Best Deli in the valley! Homemade fresh food! Great selection! The staff are courteous and have personality! If there's a line, I don't mind the wait because they know how to prioritize and keep business moving! Eggplant parm is my favorite! I love their prepared meals in the fridge which is great for those days you don't feel like cooking! Their desserts are delicious too!

Anytime I can walk into a place at noon on a Friday, place an order and be walking outta the door in under 5 minutes, I'm impressed! I ordered two subs - steak/cheese & meatball. Both were excellent with huge portions of meat and fresh condiments. Very well-organized yet friendly, neighborhood-type vibe here.

This is a little hidden gem in the valley. It's small and there's no tables or chairs for you to eat in so plan on take out only. They have subs and soups and also have a refrigerator case of things for you to take home when you don't feel like cooking dinner. I usually stop in and grab a to go container of eggplant parm from the case. It's usually about 2.5 pounds, feeds four people and it's $18.00. This place makes the best eggplant parm in CT. It is equally delicious as mine and I am well known for my eggplant parm. You can get it here with or without meat sauce which is great for vegetarians. The staff are friendly and treat you like family. They also do catering, sell Durante Pasta and some desserts. If you want a good Italian sub or want to pick up Italian food to go I suggest you try this place.

This is the real deal - Mattei's food is made with love and it shows. For as long as I can remember Mattei's has been a part of all of our special celebrations and it will continue to be. Their eggplant is legendary and with good reason- it really is that delicious. More importantly they are kind and compassionate - always friendly when I go there which is more frequently than I care to admit - ha! At least once a month I am couriering the eggplant to New Jersey so my sister can continue for tradition with her family.
